A deeply flavoured, full-bodied Madeira showcasing richness, warmth and classic island complexity. The nose opens with sultana, toffee, spiced caramel, roasted nuts and hints of molasses, all lifted by a subtle oxidative edge that adds depth and character.
The palate is plush and sweet, delivering layers of dried fruit, caramelised sugar, treacle and toasted walnut. Underneath the richness sits Madeira’s trademark acidity, giving the wine structure and preventing the sweetness from becoming heavy.
The finish is long, warming and nutty, lingering on caramel, raisin and sweet spice. A versatile full-rich style ideal with chocolate desserts, Christmas pudding, hard cheeses or enjoyed slowly on its own.
Every wine is scored out of 100 under the Winetrust Scoring System: Flavour 50 (nose 15, palate 25, finish 10), Structure 25, Balance & Harmony 15, Presentation 10. Totals are computed, never hand-entered.
Two bottles minimum, tasted on separate occasions by a named reviewer, unblind — and disclosed. Gifted samples are declared. Price never touches the score — value is rated separately. Nothing below 87 is listed, and key wines are re-tasted at twelve months with their score history preserved.
